Monica Ruggiero

Italian-Australian mezzo-soprano Monica Ruggiero has been praised for her “extremely promising vocal ability and flexibility” by the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. As a multilingual artist, she received the Principal’s Award for Academic Excellence and is a triple-threat alumnus of the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. Having received her BMus with Academic Excellence, Monica is currently completing the Honours year under Associate Professor Margaret Schindler and Dr Ron Morris. Monica's diverse vocal timbre, theatrical and movement training shine through her work with organizations like Voxalis Opera, Victorian Opera, and Springboard Opera. Furthermore, Monica promotes a holistic approach to singing at her private studio, with her students excelling at institutions like the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, JMI Academy, and the Young Australian Broadway Chorus. Her recent performances include La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi, 2024), Zerlina (Don Giovanni, 2024), Venus (Underworld: An Operatic Journey to Hell and Back, 2023), and Mustardseed (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, 2022). Monica looks forward to performing with established and emerging opera companies, and is on the path to complete an audition tour at her desired institutions in Europe.
